The Higher Woodley Farm is ideally situated for many holiday activities. Dartmoor is an excellent place for walking and horseriding with many guided walks available. We also have Coarse, fly and river fishing nearby. For sea fishing there are boats available to hire from Plymouth and Looe. There are many golf courses in the area including St Mellion and Tavistock golf clubs. Discover the Tamar valley on a trail, which takes you from nearby Milton Abbot, walk to Calstock and then take the train on the Tamar Valley railway to Bere Alston. Ordinance Survey Maps, books and leaflets of local walks, including letter-boxing on Dartmoor are available for you to browse through.

Across the River Tavy spans Tavistock bridge (see picture) when you can join the river Tavy and walk into the Meadows or join the canal and walk along the canal to Crowndale Farm which was the home of Tavistock's famous resident Sir Francis Drake.
